Listening before standardizing: the first conversations around XGVRL

As part of the initial development phase of XGVRL, we are currently conducting a series of structured interviews with a selected group of vineyards across Europe. This is not yet the experimentation phase, but a crucial exploratory dialogue to understand needs, constraints, and potential interest in participating in the next stages of testing.

At this stage, we are in contact with:

• Etna Urban Winery (Catania)

• Campus Grapes (Politecnico di Torino)

• Clos de Montmartre (Paris)

• L’Olivera (Barcelona)

Each of these vineyards represents a distinct climatic context, legal framework, and organizational model — from academic initiatives and cooperatives to historic community vineyards. This diversity is essential to ensure that XGVRL remains adaptable and relevant across a wide range of settings.

Our goal in this phase is to understand how vineyards perceive the value of structured ESG reporting, assess the feasibility of data collection in their context, and identify potential early adopters for the experimental rollout scheduled for 2026.

In parallel, we maintain direct contact with over 30 vineyards around the world, many of which have already expressed interest in following the development of the standard or contributing to it in various forms.
